Pressboard PET Pressboard Laminate

This three-layer laminate consists of polyester film with pressboard on both sides.

Thermal class B up to 130 °CThree-layer laminateHigh dielectric strength

The special laminate combines two proven insulation materials into one that outperforms its individual components: the PET film core provides high dielectric strength and tear resistance, the pressboard faces provide absorbency for the impregnation process.

The pressboard layer soaks up the impregnants used in motor manufacturing very well and prevents unfavourable air inclusions in the insulation system. This improves heat dissipation from the winding copper to the iron core, a direct contribution to motor lifetime.

Per DIN EN 60085 the laminate belongs to thermal class B up to 130 C.

Typical applications

The laminate is mainly used as slot liners and cut parts in class B electric motors, wherever windings are impregnated after winding. Related alternatives are plain pressboard for simple class A requirements and DMD laminate with fleece outer layers for class F.

Delivery formats and processing

We supply the laminate as slit rolls from a strip width of 4 mm, as sheets or as finished stamped and formed parts from our own production. Converting happens on our slitting lines with tight tolerances and optimal winding tension. Request thicknesses and prices via our contact form.

Frequently asked questions

What are the advantages over plain pressboard?

The PET film core significantly increases dielectric strength and tear resistance and lifts the material into thermal class B, while the absorbent pressboard surface remains available for the impregnation process.

Why does resin uptake matter?

The pressboard faces soak up the impregnant and prevent air inclusions in the insulation system. This improves heat dissipation from the winding copper to the iron core and extends motor lifetime.

What thermal class does the laminate have?

The pressboard PET pressboard laminate belongs to thermal class B per DIN EN 60085, suitable for continuous temperatures up to 130 C.

In which formats is it available?

As slit rolls from a strip width of 4 mm, as sheets or as finished stamped and formed parts to drawing from our own production in Filderstadt.
