Pressboard Sheets for Transformer Construction
Pressboard sheets are rigid cellulose boards from 1.0 to 6.0 mm thick, used above all in transformer construction.
Pressboard sheets are the solid form of pressboard. While pressboard paper is processed as a thin web from the roll, pressboard sheets are used where stiffness, dimensional stability and larger insulation distances are required.
We supply pressboard sheets in thicknesses of roughly 1.0 to 6.0 mm and in the standard grades PSP 3010 and PSP 3050, in various formats. Like all pressboard, the material is pure cellulose, belongs to thermal class A up to 105 C and absorbs transformer oil very well.
Applications
The main application is transformer construction. In oil-filled transformers pressboard sheets form barriers, spacers, support strips and covers between windings and against the core. The oil fully saturates the board, and together they form an insulation system with high dielectric strength.
Outside electrical engineering, pressboard sheets are used as die-cutting underlays, because they are evenly dense and flat and protect the tool, and in the printing industry.
PSP 3010 and PSP 3050
PSP 3010 and PSP 3050 are the common standard grades for pressboard sheets. They differ in density and mechanical properties, and therefore in which application they serve best. We advise which grade suits your part and provide data sheets on request.
Formats and enquiries
Pressboard sheets are available in various formats. For parts you do not want to cut from the sheet yourself, we check production as cut parts or stamped parts. Tell us grade, thickness, format and quantity via the contact form.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between pressboard paper and pressboard sheets?
The material is the same, the form is different. Pressboard paper is processed as a thin web from the roll, pressboard sheets are rigid boards from 1.0 to 6.0 mm for parts that need to be stiff and dimensionally stable.
Which grades are available?
The standard grades are PSP 3010 and PSP 3050. Which one fits depends on mechanical load and application. We are happy to advise.
What are pressboard sheets used for apart from transformers?
For example as die-cutting underlays and in the printing industry. What matters there is the even density and flatness of the board.
What thermal class do pressboard sheets have?
Like all pressboard they belong to thermal class A and are suitable for continuous temperatures up to 105 C.
