Kapton® polyimide film
DuPont Kapton® HN is a high-performance film for extreme conditions and the highest demands. Kapton® is successfully used in systems with temperatures up to 400°C. However, Kapton® has a guaranteed continuous temperature resistance of +230°C and thus belongs to thermal class C. Furthermore, Kapton® has no melting point and only starts to carbonize at 800°C. Kapton® is also extremely flame retardant and has a high chemical resistance. Polyimide film is used when other plastic films fail. Areas of application include the manufacture of chips, the production of fuel cell stacks, medical technology, electronics applications and aerospace⇱.
Insulation class according to DIN EN 60085
This international standard distinguishes between thermal classes for electrical insulation systems and electrical insulation materials.
Kapton® polyimide film belongs to insulation class C over 180°according to the DIN EN 60085 standard.
